Best High School in the State, the school itself consists of great teachers and students themselves; are always willing to help one another to achieve goals and succeed. No place like Tech. Go Bulldogs!

Using the burner account, because I don’t need other students knowing who posted this. Current senior at ILT.

Overall the school systems across the state clearly haven’t been the same since covid hit. While, other schools have managed to recover and slowly go back to “normal”; ILT Keller-Saginaw High has seemed to only get worst every year. Since covid hit, the school has barely recovered or even shifted towards improvement. I honestly have many things to complain about and these are reasonable things to critique; not worthless complaints about bad school lunches or how our bathrooms are busted/ all broken. These are complaints that actually get in the way of the student’s ability to have a better education.

    1. I believe forcing students to take four years of fitness is unreasonable when the requirement is only two years. Another thing I believe most students would appreciate is some air conditioning in the locker rooms…

    2. I truly hate the idea of in school suspension at this school. In our school they way they handle ISS is by basically taking students out of class and have them sit in a room until the school day is over. It’s supposed to be considered a punishment, but students can be placed in ISS for the most invalid reasons. For example, I was once given ISS for not wearing a tie/being out of uniform. I was placed into ISS and was taken away from participation in my classes. And with that, guess what I did in ISS, absolutely nothing and missed out on all of my classes. This extremely stupid rule gets in the way of my education and I consider it being a huge waste of time.

    3. Classes not being taken seriously. I would appreciate if I actually felt like I was learning when I came to school, but no, ILT has a lack of good teachers. Don’t get me wrong, I truly appreciate the good teachers who do their job properly, but some teachers don’t teach at all. This results in students doing nothing during class time. Neither are they learning. Overall most classes here are a waste of time.

    4. I’m worried about the students performances on the STAAR tests. Only because our school lacks teachers. This hurts students (especially the freshmen, who take 3 staar tests) and their ability to exceptionally pass the STAAR test. Not only STAAR actually, but other major tests like the SAT, TSI, or even ACT. Why force students to take a test that you know they aren’t prepared for. As for you for basically setting them up for failure on these important tests. I was especially worried for my younger brother’s performance on the Algebra 1 STAAR last year since, he barely had a teacher for most of the year. Who do you think I would blame if he ended up failing?

    5. I could honestly bring up more reasons to explain why the education system at this school is terrible but I believe my few reasons that i’ve explained already have justify it. The reasons and issues i’ve listed were only educational related; I could go on forever about other things.

For the most part, parents please don’t send your kids here. Thank you, and do better.

I hope they do something about the rules on eagle academy, ISS, and ASD. As a senior I’m too old to be punished in such a childish manner. It actually really aggravates me.

If you are considering sending your kids here don’t, there is no highschool experience and you are not taught responsibility, I am an alumni of this school, I went to this school from 6th all the way through senior year. Most events were poorly planned. I will say most of the teachers were amazing, some were worse than others, but the teachers definitely deserve to work at a better school with a better administration.

Honest review from a former student. I started ILT at the very first branch in Garland Texas as a 5th grader, I graduated as a senior in December 2020. ILT yes has as a great mission but the delivery of that mission is very poor specifically in the keller high school branch. When i was a student I was so “lucky” to have Valerie Laine as my Principal. If I could rate her from a scale of 1-10 a 1 wouldn’t even do justice defining how terrible she was in the position she held. She acted very immature and was a hypocrite. As a Principal you should set examples and lead the way of how you want your students and staff to behave, when those rules are set it is your job to demonstrate them NOT exclude yourself from it. Valerie Laine is a terrible leader and lacked the qualities needed for a good Principal. There are countless examples that I could personally name of her behaving in an ill fashioned manner. Since leaving ILT I have attained two associate degrees and currently working on my Bachelors while on the Pre-Med Path. I would advise you to send your kids to a different school, the implementation of learning multiple languages is awesome and incredibly beneficial, but there are many other ways and programs that will aide your kids to become trilingual. A word is enough for the wise.

Honest Review from a former teacher: I was a science teacher at this school for 5 years. I was part of the first group of teachers that opened the school in 17-18.

This school started out much better. It was a smaller campus and it tried to actually uphold the rhetoric it promotes so heavily. But as the years passed, it became increasingly more business like. The real turn occurred a couple years ago when a new principal came, Valerie Layne. Ms Layne never taught high school before and was extremely disappointing in her leadership at the school. She set a precedent of treating students like they were criminals and seemed to genuinely dislike teachers and teenagers and was absolutely loathed by nearly every staff member and student at the institution. She has since been promoted to district, if that gives you insight into ILTs priorities. Students are viewed as statistics and test scores at ILT now. There is very little emphasis on relationships with students and trying to help them understand the material or help them grow as adults.

There are good teachers at ILT keller, but they struggle to make an impact held down by a poorly trained administrative staff, an incompetent district filled with consultants and business figures, and a very low morale where students are treated as though they are housed in a corrections facility.

It’s unfortunate how poorly the school slid, but I’m hopeful with a turnover of the administration, especially the absence of the disastrous principal Layne, that the school will improve but as of 2022, it’s not a place I would send my children.

I’ve been teaching Chinese here for over 6 years and I know the some of the kids who left comments here, and I understand why no matter it’s negative or positive. There is no perfect school nor person. But from what I see over the years, teachers care about students and the Tarant county superintendent and once the principal in high school is a truly servant leader, and from whom I learned to respect and support my students. I would consider to send my son to Iltexas because the Spanish bilingual curriculum as well as Chinese language as part of its mission.

I was in O. D Wyatt hight school for two years. O. D Wyatt is a great school because the teachers and the school staff are so helpful and dedicated. The school encourages and motivates its students to be successful O. D wyatt has a great principle he is always so concerned about the student’s performance in school and gives them all love and support .No matter what people are saying and expressing a bad impression about O. D wyatt because of some careless and disrespectful students the teachers are always doing their best to make that type of students successful a respectful. They also give them endless opportunities and patience to improve their grades . O. D Wyatt has kind, dedicated, helpful, and nice staff and they all treat you as if you were their sondaughter. O. D Wyatt needs a great students just like its staff.

I graduated from here. I had a profound experience in this school. But today i think that wyatt is not help our community to grow. About hundred of student who currently enrolling in wyatt are being avoided to use school resources such as field during summer. Frequently many student from wyatt are walking at least 4 or 5 miles to play football or soccer in another school. Last time when i went to use the soccer field with the student they said that field has been reserved for all summer. When student went to play after they are done l. They lock the door or call securities to send them off.I think purpose of the school is to help communities and student to grow not to avoid them to became something they want be….

I went to Paschal in the mid 90’s. The teachers were nice and the majority of my friends went there. I really did enjoy my time at Paschal (despite this one crazy girl, you know who you are) No class reunion for me, but overall, a really good school!! Go Panthers!! 🙂

My Father attended Paschal back in the late 30’s to early 40’s, and was in the ROTC program. He graduated from there, and went straight into the Army, and WWII. Glad to see the school is still open!
