Step into this historic eatery for a truly one-of-a-kind supper club experience — bringing together Old World and Old West sensibilities. Cowboy hats and Basque ceramics adorn the walls, while old-school jukebox and vinyl upholstered banquet chairs evoke a feeling from decades past.
Meals are served family-style, coming in 5 generous courses of soup, salad, stew, beans and choice of entree. Rustic options include flavourful lamb shoulder steaks as well as pig feet and tripe cooked to tenderness in a red sauce. Complimentary wine, bread and French fries.
Service is not only friendly, but attentive — offering seconds to ensure diners leave fully satisfied.
By Christopher Chung (11 months ago)This was one of the coolest restaurants I’ve eaten at recently. Really great atmosphere and authentic menu and bar menu. The staff was amazing and the owner was so nice. Would absolutely eat here again next time we’re in town.By J Q (7 months ago)We’ve been enjoying coming here annually for a while, modulo recent fire and covid disruptions. The experience is a hearty, family style meal rather than high cuisine. The service and all have been excellent each visit.By Bob Davis (4 months ago)I have driven past this place hundreds and hundreds of times. We finally had the chance to go here with some friends. The cocktails were crafted very well and the food was delicious. You will not leave here hungry or unsatisfied. The bartenders and servers were all amazing!!
By C. War (10 months ago)Have always loved the family style dining available at Basque restaurants. J T Basque Bar and Dining does not disappoint. The interior is a history lesson of the Carson Valley. Quite rustic and historical. I loved it.
The service was top notch. If we had a question, it was quickly answered. The server checked with us often and was very friendly.
The food is fantastic. Today we had a plate lunch. The steak sandwich is to die for. The spaghetti and meatballs special was serviceable.

This pub was absolutely a fantastic find on our part. The food and service was perfection. We can’t wait to stop by again. Amber was our server and she made our day. Great attitude and she brought us great food and drinks. She is very sharp and witty overall a Great person. She made the whole experience fun really enjoyable. We had the fried fish and chips, fish tacos, Calamari and the ribs. All was done to perfection. Flavor was very tasty and fresh. We couldn’t ask for a better selection and great time. We will be back.By Don Gleeson (5 months ago)Great food and good beer. Fried Cheese Curds were excellent. Overland Amber is a very tasty beer.
Looking forward to going there again during another work trip in the region.
By RC Strain (7 months ago)Gathering for my daughter’s birthday and the service was great plus the food was fantastic everyone agreed. I arrived late and ordered my food to go and the steak dish was very good tender and cooked perfectly. Will definitely go back!By Bello the Cane Corso (10 months ago)Great food! Our server Tennessee was great. Very upbeat, and attentive. Was able to stay ketogenic with this visit.By Harlee Tuttle (3 weeks ago)A wonderful dining experience in an historic 1902 building, eating at The Overland is like taking a step back in time! Our server was particularly excellent tonight. Not only did Rodney provide great service, but he also made my drink, a Stone Fruit Sparkler. It is not sweet but had very subtle flavors of fruit and fresh rosemary, I loved it! The Drunken Shrimp pasta was delicious again. Highly recommended!!
Tonight’s server was Amber. Not only does she take excellent care of you but she makes cocktails! Another wonderful meal!By Suzanne Miladin (2 months ago)

Well, I am back y’all. May I have this pleasure to say; I have found another great little quaint spot to eat.
The peaceful and welcoming vibe as soon as you walk in, is just euphoric/amazing.
The workers are on point.
Food is done in a very timely manner and great presentation. As most have known of me through past years of restaurant and cooking experience. I am a bit of a critic. Yet, I do not just point out bad and or good. I am here to help people find their way. Bringing awareness and understanding to the business as well as the people. Food is an art, by watching people enjoy the food prepared is something a true cook loves to witness. I can honestly say; “This family oriented restaurant is one of very few that just have it”.
I am one that likes to challenge restaurants at times.
I requested a special dish, was told; “yes, we can make you whatever you want, within reason”. So, I had them turn a chicken fried steak, into an omelet. Added jalapeños, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado, Swiss, and provolone smothered in gravy. It turned out amazing. I shared with the cooks. Then I returned and had a double bacon cheese burger… Juicy, and again great presentation, great size, and and beautiful flavor.
Then I was offered to try a dessert from the head chef. I am not a real dessert person, however, it was just delicious. The menu on Friday and Saturday night becomes more elegant. I will be attending at some point. My bill was a little high do to special requests, and I tip as well as I can with the servers and cooks, understandable.
I must say; “This is a place that I highly recommend and enjoy. I myself cannot wait to try more of the different dishes they have to offer.”
Best of wishes and blessings to future business.
By Bud Gibson (4 months ago)I had a great experience at Woodett’s. I went for breakfast ( everything coming out looked fabulous), however, when I saw french onion soup on the menu, I had to get lunch instead. The French onion soup was delicious, and the summer salad with artichokes was so good. I highly recommend this place. Very nice, friendly staff. Love the coffee!
I will get breakfast next time.By Lilly Dakic (a month ago)Under new ownership: Woodett’s Diner offers a special weekend-only French bistro. The new owners are a married couple, one is French, and the other is Greek, and they met in France. 22 years ago they came to the United States and brought a glorious assortment of tasty flavors with them. You can still get breakfast and lunch throughout the week, including some classics carried over from the previous owner (i.e.: biscuits and gravy), but as an additional perk, you can also get a very high quality meal on the weekend, with a rotating menu every 4 weeks. Keep your eye on this establishment, it will probably emerge as one of the highest quality restaurants in Gardnerville, NV.My table ordered a filet mignon in peppercorn sauce ($29, most expensive item on the menu), a filet of chicken (I’m told it was a little dry, even though swimming in butter), baked salmon (I’m told it was also noticably swimming in butter, but not sure that’s a problem), salmon tartar (a starter, very good), a goat cheese salad (fresh and excellent), and three desserts (each was excellent, and very saucy). Flavored bread rolls were served at the table with butter upon arrival. My overall impression is that this chef, Ramon, knows what he’s doing. The food was prepared with expert precision, and simple-but-clean presentation. I’m told he’d like to move away from short-order diner cook and get back to his real passion, chef of a French bistro.
I additionally ordered a glass of Cabernet, which though I did not know the label, it was quite good. I’d be interested in finding out what it was, and I’m secretly hoping it was something quite affordable. A friend of mine once told me, the best wine in the world is the one you like.
My advice: continue to minimize the diner feel, replace the cool white bulbs in the chandeliers with warm colors, and continue to go for the high quality market share. There’s plenty of diners in town, but I want to transcend time and space, escape, and find myself in the movie “Ratatouille.” I miss sitting at a nice comfortable restaurant, and watching the people go by in the streets – a classic French bistro pastime. Let me know if you need some French music.
Old review (previous owner): Diner cuisine. Diner coffee. Diner service. Diner prices. Comfortable booths. Parking lot feels a little tight in an SUV, but there’s ample parking all around. Successful visit.
By Merrill Hanson (9 months ago)So hospitable here! We all enjoyed our food. It came out quickly. There wasn’t a wait. Small town little joint with home style cooking. We had the steak and biscuits and gravy plates. Absolutely delicious. Coffee was hot, yummy, and kept coming. 10/10 recommend if you’re in town looking for a breakfast spot.By Rebeccah (a year ago)A good menu with lots of options. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was outstanding.By Carl Dobyns (a week ago)

Ridiculous prices! Cook said f-ing Btch when she pulled my order off the printer. Didn’t get what we ordered and then charged 20.50 for a burger plate. $100 bill for 2burger plates a ham n cheese plate and a ribeye sand plate. Waitress seemed drunk or on something. We will never return!!!!By Shawnee Bowen (a month ago)Expansive menu and friendly staff. We came in with an unannounced (large group) on Father’s day Sunday. There was only 1 server/bartender (brand new & solo) along with only 1 chef (15yr old kid). They rocked it and the wide variety of items our group chose was all prepared on point and plated accurately. Very pleased despite the ongoing staffing issues most every business is experiencing. Thank you!By Mr East Vegas Ryan Carter (6 months ago)Great food at a great price! By far the best meal I had in Gardnerville! Everything was hot and fresh! The biscuit was huge, fluffy and delicious! If there were 6 stars, I’d give them that! Food is the best I’ve had in this area, including a few of the ones in Reno. Absolutely delicious and inexpensive, two of my favorite “qualities” in a restaurant 😁😁 I’ll definitely become a regular. Staff is friendly and efficient.By Jereesa George (5 months ago)Best Mexican place! They’re super nice and always willing to do special orders which is a plus in my book! Their staff is great whether picking up or dining in. And their food is so delicious. I have never had a complaint with anything I’ve ordered. Would recommend to anybody looking for a good meal!By Samantha Lee (4 months ago)JJ’s has really changed, for the better. Spacious, clean and tastefully appointed. Menu is very large and varied. Example; Shrimp and octopus in garlic sauce. Food was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Prices are very reasonable as well. Seriously stands out from the crowd.By Bruce Sanguinetti (2 months ago)May I just first start by saying they don’t mess around here with the Margaritas. None of that syrup stuff. The food was excellent too. I had the Molcajete and it was out of this world. Would definitely go again.By Alex Almendra (2 months ago)Good drinks and good service. Large eating area and a newly built outdoor patio makes it a great atmosphere. Food is mediocre. Good. Not very authentic. Prices for food are a bit steep for what you actually get.By Vicky Torres (2 weeks ago)
