The food is very good and the service was excellent. There was a 30 minute wait but I don’t think it took that long.

We both had the seafood sampler. The shrimp was deliciously seasoned but only 3. There were plenty of crawfish. The fries were very basic. I was expecting them to taste a lot better.

I also ordered the banana pudding and it was delicious!! Now I definitely would go back for that. It cost $8.95. The food overall is a bit pricey for me. I don’t see it as fine dining but maybe it’s supposed to be.

Great food. Great service. The shrimp & grits were the best Ever. The seafood platter with dirty rice was delicious. The cheesecake was amazing. Very generous portions. The restaurant was clean & staff friendly.

Where to start. My mother called this restaurant a few days ago asking if she could make a reservation for 5 today, Saturday at 5pm. Was told by whoever she spoke to on the phone they do not accept reservations. Funny, I go online to pappadeaux general site and they offer reservations until you search the Birmingham location 🫤

Anyway, we arrive around 4:30pm on a Saturday with not a single place to park. Had to drive around several times and catch someone leaving. Red flag #1. Walk in and ask how long the wait is and are told 1hr to 1 1/2 hours. Do you see why reservations are helpful? There was a patio full of dozens of people waiting for at least an hour to be seated. We did get some bar drinks while waiting and they were good. Once we finally got seated about an hour and a half later, it took a while for anyone to even come ask for our drink orders. We ordered apps and dinner at the same time and everything came at the same time. Crab dip was room temp. Shrimp and grits were good. We spend about 3 hours at this place and for the price, service just didn’t match. This was my second time coming, prob won’t come back. Be aware if you come on the weekend, wait is RIDICULOUS and they specified to my family they don’t take reservations.

Wow! What a remodeling. It’s been nearly a decade since I stopped in and they’ve finally gotten rid of the cafeteria style ordering/line. It’s now your standard restaurant seating (previously a free for all) with a main bar. We were running late for a show at the nearby theater and the staff kindly rushed our order. We were in&out in 30min! Same great service, same amazing food! Loved the shrimp and grits, definitely a must-try.
    👍if helpful, thanks!🙏

I took my mother here for her birthday because she has been talking nonstop about this restaurant since seeing George on some of the news shows. I have to admit that we were simply blown away by the food, the service, and the atmosphere.
Our waitress was amazing and so very attentive. She answered any questions we had about the menu and was amazing about helping us pick out some of the best foods to try.
I had the Maryland Crab Cake and honestly it was the best one I’ve had. It was packed full of large chunks of crab and the corn hash was full of flavor that married with the crab cake perfectly. I could have just had the crab cake itself as a meal, it was devine. For my main dish I had the stuffed Rainbow Trout. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned perfectly.
We will most definitely be back and it has become our top favorite restaurant in Birmingham.

Very friendly staff, excellent food, very relaxed atmosphere. What else to say…. Oh… right.. a glimpse of Greece in the antiques store in the restaurant. Be sure to stop by when you are in Birmingham. Try the VIP snapper. I recommend it.
    Thank you The Fish Market.

Looking for a place to meet-up with college buddies, we chose The Fish Market. I calld to inquire about a table for 15 and manager, Paul Berman, was quick to respond. He was super helpful in making our reservation for our lunch group.
We ended up with a full table! Everyone ordered and the staff was great. And the food. Exceptional as always. The Fish Market is the best!

This location ( Southside) has never disappointed! Great food , did I say GREAT! A nice, unique atmosphere, and friendly service rounded out with a store chopped full of items that can help you reach close results at home. If local , the market is not just a name, take home fresh seafood ( fish cut to your order) and get started. I personally love the tuna steak. Snapper is excellent and the grill won’t disappoint, and if you’ve never had John’s slaw give it with the sauce a try.

I usually get the waitress name but I didn’t today. She was very nice and attentive. The food came out hot and it was really good. My mom, dad and I really enjoyed lunch. There ain’t nothing like good food and great service!

The biscuits and shrimp were horrible. Date of visit: May 29th. The shrimp tasted watery and like they had been chopped and breaded. The biscuits indescribable. I didn’t eat the food, had to trash it. Smh.

Food was good. I ordered a shrimp and blackened Salmon plate. No complaints!

The food was ok. Our server was spot on with everything, but I’m thinking the atmosphere of the he restaurant was holding her back a little. It just didn’t have that fun cheerfulness I remember when I was younger.

We had a party of 8, and called to see how long the wait would be. We told Ms. Jess we were already outside and she said come on in, I’ll get you seated now. The service was excellent and the food was fresh. We live out of town and stopped on our way to our destination. I say this to say, we own a restaurant ourselves so we are very opinionated about food, service, and environment!

This place was a solid option. Went here to get some crab legs because the preferred option wasn’t open and this didn’t disappoint. The special was 1/2 pound of crab legs and 1/2 pound of headless shrimp with potatoes, corn, boiled eggs and sausage. Also got it with the special seasoning which is everything mixed together. It was cooked very well and the spice was good too. Maybe had a little too much cayenne but still good. Will definitely go back.

The atmosphere was welcoming the place was clean. The bar tender was friendly and welcoming he was including everyone in the conversation. The service was speedy I didn’t have to wait long at all. But when I got home I was disappointed! They boil the shrimp, corn, eggs, potatoes, and sausage with no season first! Than put all the season in the bag with your order. Not cool! For 40 bucks I was not impressed

My group visited this location on Friday, October 7th. The establishment was clean and the staff was friendly and there was no wait, which is always a plus when you have a hungry group! However, even though the restaurant was not crowded the staff seemed to be disorganized and struggling. Our waitress couldn’t remember our drink orders (there were only 4 of us) and it took several minutes for us all to receive our drinks. There was also quite a wait between receiving our drinks and our order being taken. We did receive our food in a very timely manner and all of it was hot, fresh and delicious.

The Crab Barrack is very close to my work. I have not had the opportunity to go inside until today. I was greeted by two very courteous women behind the bar. Not only were they genuinely nice, they were also helpful and knowledgeable about their place of employment. I was there for business so I was not able to order to eat any of the food, but the bar was very clean as well as the restaurant. On my way out, I asked her for a To- go menu. The one thing that I really wanted to eat were crab claws. Unfortunately, I did not see them on the menu.

This place was definitely a surprise!
Okay the important thing is that if you are wanting some good sea food that’s not over the top expensive! This is the place you want to go. Our first time was a good experience, we ordered fried fish, fried cat fish, and fried tilapia we got fries and fried okra. Yes, that was allot of friend food, everything came out super hot and fresh but WAY TOO greasy for our liking. HOWEVER it was good & very tasty, would we come back to this place? Most definitely! Definitely order something different but the food is definitely fresh and tasty!

One thing they could change would be the music, definitely too loud.

I highly recommend the shrimp with potato and corn. I got the king’s seasoning. I got mild. I would like to try the medium heat. My daughter got the same thing. If you are a big eater I would go with the full pound. My daughter and I got the half pound. She couldn’t finish hers, so it evened out for me. I was a little hungry still after the half pound. My wife got four fish filets. They were good. The seasoning could use a little salt but I would rather add salt cause you can’t take it off. Patrick was our waiter. He was super nice. I really appreciated his service.

Oh my goodness, everything there was so delicious. Things were a little pricey but you get what you pay for when it comes to good seafood. I had the Dungeness Crab, Shrimp and a dozen raw oysters from Virginia. Being from Alabama we love the Gulf oysters but only in November – February. Gotta have cold water oysters. My daughter and my grandson also tried oysters. Unfortunately my grandson did not like the texture. It was his first time and probably his last. LOL. I can’t say enough about the food and service. The music was a little loud for my case but it was good music. It was music from the ’80s which is in my opinion some of the best music made. But that was a long time ago.
The bartender Cookie, she was amazing. Not only was she very pleasant to talk with she also let me try some chicken wings. The wings were cooked perfectly. They were deep fried and crispy not soggy and chewy. Nothing disgusts me more than a mushy chicken wing. The Dungeness crab was so sweet and came out of the shell so easily. You could tell whoever was working the kitchen knew exactly how long to drop the seafood for. Oh my goodness so tiny red potatoes were delicious. They soaked up all of that Cajun butter and garlic and it was fantastic. They gave us bibs and gloves but who needs that when you got napkins and a hand to rip those delicious Crab legs apart.
When I say it was pricey what I really mean is that expect to pay for good food. You can go to any seafood restaurant and spend $200 with your family but did they all enjoy it. What’s the seafood cook correctly? Well you need to trust me when I tell you seafood King is the bomb. Five stars all the way.

The food was out of this world. I love the meal so much I ordered another portion. I can’t thank the staff enough for a meal I will never forget. I will come back forever.
