Great ambience and view but I would not say that the food is amazing. The clam chowder bread bowl was pretty standard and the sourdough bread was too complex for this dish in my opinion. Seafood risotto was flavorful but a bit salty. I like the fried calamari the most as it was fresh and fried just right so you can taste the ingredients. Tiramisu was below average. Service was great.By Minh Nguyen (8 months ago)The Fog Harbor Fish House has great food and beverages. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing great service that is memorable. Everyone is dressed in classy attire, bringing a higher quality to the experience of being there. The fish and chips are great and the mixed drinks are well prepared and balanced. The atmosphere feels more cozy and warm, giving guests a comfortable dining experience. The views surrounding this establishment are wonderful, looking out towards the ocean and harbors. While the prices are higher, the service, quality, and overall experience is worth it. Recommended to go during happy hour, just before the dinner rush. If you can make reservations ahead of time, it’s definitely suggested as this place is busy. Great for family and friend meals with a classy vibe.By Wayne Pombert II (9 months ago)Amazing experience at the Fog Harbor Fish House. Although you may have to book and maybe wait for up to an hour until you get a table, it’s well worth it. Very classy and the food is well presented. Quality of food is also in a very high standard. A great place to unwind with friends, family, or a couple out on a date. Totally recommend this place if you decide to head out to the peer 39.By Christopher Fernandez (in the last week)This is a great family restaurant with wonderful views of the bay and great food.
It was relatively easy to get a table for 7 people when we went. The kids really enjoyed their food which tells me that it was pretty high quality lol.
They have great clam chowder and I had the salmon which was excellent. The dining area is very bright and energetic. It seems like a good place to go with family or for a fancier dinner.
Would definitely come again when I’m in the area.
By Matthew Laurin (9 months ago)Located opposite Alcatraz, this restaurant offers great views of the bay. Our waiter was extremely busy yet always checked in on us and was really helpful and polite. The menu was really good and the food we had was really tasty (probably be the best we’ve had yet seafood wise). First time I’ve had clam chowder in a bread bowl and I really enjoyed it. Will likely return here before our time is up in San Francisco.2nd visit a few days later and was equally as impressive. Our waiter George was friendly and helpful. Glad to have our final holiday meal here at Fog Harbor.

We had a fantastic experience here. From the moment we walked in, the staff was extremely kind and attentive. They cracked jokes with us, and were a big part of the experience in my opinion
The food was incredible and definitely something new for us. We ordered the crispy sweet bread which was phenomenal. Our server spent time describing the texture of a few of the different dishes, and really made me feel like he was happy to do it. I struggle with some textures when it comes to food, so I really appreciated this.
Overall a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it. This was the perfect place to celebrate a birthday. I’m looking forward to going back!
By Dante Danna (3 months ago)Great seafood restaurant. Service is on point, pleasant and attentive without too much. The food was great! Amazing scallops and halibut, and delicious dessert.
Big wine selection but on a pricier side.
And oh, did I mention the views? Lovely!
By Larry R (8 months ago)I celebrated my most recent birthday at the Water Bar. The service was excellent. The food was so delicious I ate every single bite. I had the scallops starter dish and a bath on tray. Several glasses of champagne and some wine and I was happy as could be. The restaurant designed a special birthday message with a dessert on a plate. It was absolutely beautiful. The food was so delicious it’s a place you just have to experience. Best meal I’ve had and so many years.By Denise Fleming (9 months ago)Amazing views , excellent service and top notch seafood. Their menu changed a bit , so I don’t remember the name of the entree seafood pictured here, but it was luscious. We ordered the toffee pudding for the dessert. Wide variety of fascinating Cocktails. Bit expensive but would definitely come here again for an occasional lunch/dinnerBy PRAARTHANA RAMAKRISHNAN (4 months ago)We’d travelled to USA for 2 weeks for my 40th, this was my favourite restaurant experience in San Francisco. The bar staff were really friendly and helped recommend wines and cocktails. I’d really struggled finding wines I liked so they let me taste a tiny amount of a few from their glass only list to help me before I got a bottle at the table. The service was fantastic, fast and attentive , the food was delicious, and the views of the bridge were just awesome. The restaurant really changed from daylight to nightlight with the lit up aquarium tanks and the views of the lit bridge. Overall just a fabulous birthday experience it was everything I wanted for such a big birthday and was one of the best experiences, I would highly recommend to anyone.By Tristan Cairns (8 months ago)

Such a beautiful location!! We showed up around 6:45 and there was a huge line out the door (which we took as a good sign it was a popular place!)
By the time we got seated after about 10 mins, we sat on the outdoor patio with a stunning view of the Oakland Bay Bridge & water!! Absolutely perfect for our first night in San Francisco.
I ordered the Clam Chowder which had real clams with the shell on – one of the best chowders I’ve ever had! Also a side of fries, and of course oysters to share with the table. Everything was super fresh and our server was really nice. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area.
By itscolleenk (4 months ago)Absolutely loved this place. Oysters were so fresh and amazing. They did not serve with cocktail sauce but was very kind when I asked for some! The clams were so fresh as well. Wish there was some bread to eat with the leftover sauce because it was that good! The fish and chips were good too. Definitely coming back.By Tracy Ta (11 months ago)Great seafood place on the wharf at the ferry terminal. Raw Oysters could not have been more fresh plus great selection. The grilled oysters with green sauce deserve special mention. Also, the clam chowda was as good as I’ve had in New England. Mussels with fries were superb as well. There can be a bit of a line but it moved quickly.By peter oconnor (8 months ago)Super fresh oysters from West Coast, BC, and The East Coast (Massachusetts). We had an excellent time. The seafood stew was also delicious with super tasty broth and fresh muscles, clams, shrimp, and fish. The halibut was decent too but I wouldn’t order it again as it was a little bland compared to the other dishes by comparison, but it was super fresh and great by halibut standards. Also, the bartenders spilled over from the Slanted Door’s bar team next door, which is temporarily closed, and were on point – Joaquin was awesome and made up a drink with sesame oil that sounded weird but tasted amazing. All in all a great birthday meal and excellent atmosphere!By Dylan G (10 months ago)one of best spots for fresh oysters and clams. the clam chowder was unforgettable! it came as overflowing bowl of clams with a little cream soup! we also had the baked oysters that were so plump and fresh! sitting outside would be ideal while weather permits. the view is just stunning.By Evanezer Cedric (Hungryhungrymonster) (6 months ago)

Open for 173 years for a reason! This restaurant came highly rated by my Croatian friends and it was a great recommendation. The restaurant feels “old school” which is awesome and a totally different atmosphere than other restaurants in the area. The food is terrific, we tried the crab cakes and the salmon based on the servers suggestions. The service is top-notch and to top things off there is still a Croatian that worked there and he stopped by our table to speak the old language a bit. I am a first generation Croatian-American and a Cali Boy so coming to the first restaurant in California opened by 3 Croatian immigrants was a perfect match. Thank you for the fantastic evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to drop by again.By Stipe Lasić (9 months ago)This restaurant is right down the street from my job. A couple of my coworkers went here for lunch to welcome a new staff member. I didn’t know the restaurant’s history and was pleasantly surprised. It was a great experience for someone who just moved to the city. I had the crab cakes on the recommendation from our waiter. They were delicious. We finished with a slice of the Belgian chocolate cake. We all thought it was divine. We’ll be back for more.By Aleta Duvall (6 months ago)Plenty of service at Tadich Grill. This is one of the oldest restaurants in the US. The menu is extensive.
Probably a good idea to make a reservation as it is popular. Plate servings are large for some dishes and you are given crunchy bread on arrival at the table.
By Jimbo Jimbo (7 months ago)Outstanding flavors. I can see why this place has been around so long. Wonderful service. We spent more than normal at lunch because we had drinks and dessert. The cioppino, crab cakes, Boston chowder, chocolate cake and cocktail were all fantastic.By Cat Bobo (6 months ago)I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. I was hungry after a long flight and little did I know it was the oldest restaurant in San Francisco. I wanted to eat something local, so I asked for a clam chowder and they had it, and it was delicious. However, this place is not quite about food which is great – it’s about history and they’re doing good preserving it!By Анастасия Дацько (2 weeks ago)

I want to start by saying the host and our waiter were awesome.
Don’t get your hopes up about this place. Came here for my birthday and was disappointed to say the least.
For starters it was loud, like louder than a restaurant should be and for the prices you pay to eat and be here it shouldn’t be that loud.
Secondly the food itself wasn’t memorable at all. I can’t even remember what I ate, I just know I took the pictures and wanted to be done with the whole experience. Oh and don’t get the calamari, it tasted like chicken tenders for some reason.
The reviews for this place are pretty up there but I guess a lot of people that go here probably don’t eat out a lot or think expensive food tastes better (which it doesn’t).
If you do decide for some reason to come here and want the food to be more palatable get the San Francisco Rum based drink. That was the best thing I had here and tasted great.
The price you pay for everything here is not worth it and thankfully I was able to have a redo and simply made a far better dish at home that actually had flavor.
My girlfriend and I were seated right next to the water which was an absolute delight for us. Our server was Chad. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the Sweet and sour calamari, new England clam chowder and the Lobster tails. Everything was delicious! I don’t know why that other dude said the Calamari tasted like chicken tenders(it didn’t) but I thought it was one of the best ones I’ve ever had.
Food terrific.
It’s a pretty touristy area and it feels like it might not be so great because of that but the food was excellent!! Perhaps the best calamari I’ve had. The garlic bread was huge and tasty. Crab, excellent!! The sweet and sour sauce with the calamari was also really good.
Staff was friendly and the restaurant is quite large. Nice views of the ocean and a good menu selection.
There is a patio and indoor seating with huge windows so it has a really great vibe.
Highly recommend!!
This place was recommended to us and we loved it! We started with drinks and an appetizer. My jalapeno margarita was excellent and the calamari was the best I’ve ever had. My friend enjoyed the oysters. I got the crab cakes for my meal and they were good but I believe I’ve been spoiled in Baltimore. My friend also enjoyed her triple shrimp dish. We ate outside and enjoyed the sun and people watching. I definitely recommend!
Blame it to google maps for my disappointment but I was expecting a whole crab when I ordered the crab(like what I’ve seen in photos on google maps). Came in pieces and without the head. Also tasted a bit old and salty. I did though like the bib; made for some fun photos.
The crab cakes though were delicious! Best cakes I’ve ever had.
The chowder was tasty even though there wasn’t really pieces of anything in it.
Staff were nice.
I wish there was a barrier fr the table beside us/above a level. The patron above pulled at his lobster tail and it flicked down onto our table.
Drinks and food are affordable but I still wished the food was overall better tasting.
