Of all the things that go on in schools, you guys freak out over a kid waving at a graduation he earned. “The school chose not to discipline him”. 90% of students in my senior class last year didnt care for education. Class were not difficult whatsoever so I hardly felt accomplished getting good grades compared to my other school I transferred away from. Teachers are very nice and would help you if you seek for their assistance though its very hard to take school serious if theres barely any discipline.

My daughters go there so far there passing with good grades …there is no bad schools it’s the discipline and the authority that makes a school good and the teachers AND STUDENTS that are willing to work all together….

This school has changed my life and I’m thankful. The teachers and the coaches are really nice. And being part of the soccer team has really showed me how to be my brothers keeper and it has turned me into a young responsible adult. This is the best High School ever!!

It’s a public high school what do you expect. The new buildings are nice and the getto reputation is not all that it was hyped up to be. The magnet programs are fun but they are not for everybody. I’m a short white nerdy kid and neither me or any of my friends have ever been bullied. The gang violence is mostly done at the bushes chicken across the street not on school grounds. Overall a pretty good school if you dont get yourself into trouble.

When I was there, I couldn’t wait to get out. This school is terrible!! Please do yourself a favor and take your kids somewhere else. You can never miss a baby bump walking around there, they aren’t strict with the dress code(guys and girls) and their is always a fight. Kids are always walking around skipping school, they don’t care for an education, the teachers are always losing your homework and making you redo it then find it and say it was your fault for not putting in a certain place. They always say they don’t get paid enough to put up with our bullshit, yet they roll in to school with nice cars, vestiment, cellphones and jewelry. From the start of my freshman year there was a fight to the end of my senior year there was a fight. My current attending sister told me the other day that there was a food fight in the cafeteria, yet they didn’t do anything about it. Kids disrespect their teachers and don’t give a damn. Never will.
Now the reason why I decided to post this up now is because my brothers who are in special education are getting bullied at school. One of them is getting beat up by a black kid and the other one is scared to go to school to the point of wanting to KILL himself. He wants to KILL himself!! My parents went to talk to the principal and he wouldn’t do anything about it!! So parents if you have special children, don’t bring them here! Sure enough it’s definitely OK for special education children to be bullied and be beat up! It’s OK for bullying to happen!! That’s not fair!! Your kids will be made fun of and pass so traumatic experiences there, and not to mention they’ll also be offered weed and ecstasy! So be careful!

I love this school. I used to go here and its a really good place if you want to learn another language. The school is preatty big and the teachers are nice and fun. The are many types of people here and many ethnic groups. So you always have a friend.

This school has been the best thing to happen to me. I don’t care what people say about a skit that was preformed by students. It has no actual influence on how we learn. The skit was probably meant to be funny and not to be taken serious. The teacher everyone bashes had no idea the students had wrote the skit the way they did so please think about that. This is such a great school full of bright young kids who have so much potential so please don’t bash them or this school while you’re on you high horse. I cam to Marshall two years ago thinking i was going to hate it and it was ghetto and so were the people in it. That wasn’t the case. I don’t like how you “parents” think you know everything. Your child is probably not the best kid but everyone has their flaws. I doubt if your child was one of these kids that had participated in this skit you would actually follow though with the threats you claim to make. Just to reiterate i have a 4.0 GPA thanks to John Marshall and if you take your child out of this school you’re hurting your child’s future.

Schools were hate and violence is acted out and directed at a specific person or group of persons==school administrators must fire all staff involved and permanently suspend all students that participated in such activities

The dress code is so ridiculous for both men and women. And if you get too many absences or tardies, you get detention- what the frick?! How is that fair? What if you aren’t fast enough and what if you get sick a lot? I can’t wait to graduate from this stupid place!

Principal is great, half the athletic coaches suck and have no clue as to what to do in regards to football. Once a student leaves football because they are tired of injuries that student is treated like crap. Half the student body is a bunch of drug using piles of trash. I attended this school 20+ years ago and we did not have drug problems, theft and vandalism of vehicles was not as prevalent as it is now. The district is too worried about what it looks like instead of teaching the kids. But again I say the principal is awesome but can only do so much…

Shame on you for making Graduation a financial burden on your students. Gowns cover a lot and there is no reason to be heartless. You need to have options available for those who can’t afford it. Not everyone makes a principals salary.

To enroll a kid in special ed is a hard process and they don’t take in consideration a special kids when they give a punishment and broke the rules for this kids, never hel, they just give a punishment and don’t give any counseling. Any person can access the school. No weapon control, no police in front, just the police car and that’s it.

This school was the best and i miss it in every single way!2 thumbs way up!I’m talking about my high school experience socially. A lot of the teachers when i was there were very mellow and chilled but my opinion of 4 years of going there the teachers i had except for 3 they were all pretty crappy,they rushed over everything and whenever there was a disruption they took the whole time redirecting the students when they could of just sent them out or taken them out of the class.I see reviews about how people think this school is ghetto..how in the world do you think that? Yes i did a study and this school does have a lot of unfortunate students with crappy role models as parents and there are a lot of poor kids but i wouldn’t say ghetto,yes the everyday struggle may be apparent in there life but they don’t let it affect them not like a lot of other schools where they’re immature and cause problems.Overall this school was the best but i’m talking about friends wise…education wise i give it 2 thumbs way down.They didn’t prepare me for real college maybe community but not real college.

Considering I didn’t have to shell money directly out of pocket to go here, I would say it was a great high school. This is a school that helps to create well rounded students with good character. Although some of the “regular” classes can be a real joke, students have the opportunity to enroll in higher level classes if they’re looking for a more educational experience. That being said, they still have great programs for visual and performing arts (the band is particularly well known), not to mention the athletic department’s usually hold their own (bowling and cheerleading always do very well). Even though Madison has a reputation for being “that one school some kid brought an AK to” a few years back, I never felt like I was truly in harm’s way here. Lots of fun stories to look back on, and a less stuck up community than many other of the NEISD high schools. Go mavericks!

I hated going here.

There are some very good teachers here who are passionate about their work, but most of them are lazy, unmotivated, and spiteful. I had a male coach call me a wh*re freshman year because my button up shirt popped open without my knowledge.
My Government teacher was close to retirement and cared so little about her classes that she’d fall asleep at her desk, give us huge assignments and bookwork with little explanation and time to complete it, and never lectured-NOT ONCE- throughout the entire semester. I actually needed to skip school for once to finish a huge project she’d given short notice and a week to complete.

If anyone reading this is having as much trouble with this school- or any big public school- I’d recommend applying for the Academy of Creative Education. It’s an at-your-own-pace nontraditional school where upon graduation you get a high school diploma, not a GED like other self paced programs do. The staff are very friendly and helpful (Even the custodians) and the teachers actually remember your name.

My stay here at Madison was for the most part enjoyable, albeit I can’t remember most of it. Hospital staff as a whole was agreeable, but there were times when I felt they were a little too hostile. For instance, I was reprimanded more than one time for wearing my baseball cap indoors. Had they known of the huge bald spot I was trying to conceal they probably would have been a little more understanding. Despite what some other “reviewers” have stated, the teachers do in fact teach, and not everybody fails. My children, and my children’s children and my money go to Madison.

Back then, Madison had a lot of wanksters hanging out in the F-Hall. Demographics and socio-economic status has changed somewhat. Most problems should be pointed at administration and the selection process on hiring those administrators. Board members should select well-qualified administrators who truly care for ALL students and learners to succeed. If you have a passionate school leader who truly cares about the teachers, students, community, success is unlimited. Unfortunately, politics in education come into play and it’s back to the old good ole boy system when it comes to selecting school leaders. From my recollection, I had a mix of good and bad teachers. Overall, I had a good experience. I just hope and pray that one day things will change for the better.
