The Battle of Ia Drang (Vietnamese: Trận Ia Đrăng; Chữ Hán: 戰河德浪, [iə̯ ɗrăŋ]; in English ) was the first major battle between the United States Army and the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), as part of the Pleiku Campaign conducted early in the Vietnam War, at the eastern foot of the Chu Pong Massif in the central highlands of Vietnam, in 1965. It is notable for being the first large scale helicopter air assault and also the first use of Boeing B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers in a tactical support role. Ia Drang set the blueprint for the Vietnam War with the Americans relying on air mobility, artillery fire and close air support, while the PAVN neutralized that firepower by quickly engaging American forces at very close range.
Ia Drang comprised two main engagements, centered on two helicopter landing zones (LZs), the first known as LZ X-Ray, followed by LZ Albany, farther north in the Ia Drang Valley.
LZ X-Ray involved the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment and supporting units under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore, and took place November 14–16, at LZ X-Ray. Surrounded and under heavy fire from a numerically superior force, the American forces were able to drive back the North Vietnamese forces over three days, largely through the support of air power and heavy artillery bombardment, which the North Vietnamese lacked. The Americans claimed LZ X-Ray as a tactical victory, citing a 10:1 kill ratio.
The second engagement involved the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment plus supporting units under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Robert McDade, and took place on November 17 at LZ Albany. When an American battalion was ambushed in close quarters, who were unable to use air and artillery support due to the close engagement of the North Vietnamese, the Americans suffered an over-50% casualty rate before being extricated. Both sides claimed victory.
The battle at LZ X-Ray was documented in the CBS special report Battle of Ia Drang Valley by Morley Safer and the critically acclaimed book We Were Soldiers Once... And Young by Hal Moore and Joseph L. Galloway. In 1994, Moore, Galloway and men who fought on both the American and North Vietnamese sides, traveled back to the remote jungle clearings where the battle took place. At the time the U.S. did not have diplomatic relations with Vietnam. The risky trip which took a year to arrange was part of an award-winning ABC News documentary, They Were Young and Brave produced by Terence Wrong. Randall Wallace depicted the battle at LZ X-Ray in the 2002 movie We Were Soldiers starring Mel Gibson and Barry Pepper as Moore and Galloway, respectively.
Galloway later described Ia Drang as "the battle that convinced Ho Chi Minh he could win".

I got a van from Carhop, since purchase I have had it in 6 different shops (of my choosing ) along with 3 of their shops (I stopped going to their recommended shops) . One of their shops gave it back to me with a flat tire, there was nothing wrong with the tire when it was dropped off. I have now been paying on this van for a year. I have 2 more years left to pay on it. Even after having it in the shops the better part of this year (there one shop it was there for MONTHS! ) it will randomly die while I’m driving it. It is not safe to drive for my family as we have been stranded several times and paid for it to be brought to shops or our house and had to find rides back home. Call out of work, miss Dr appointments. I pride myself on my work ethic as I own my own business and am very dependable, so when I have had to reschedule do to the failure of this van it’s been quite the hardship.

I tried to work out with them to turn the van over to them and get another vehicle through them (taking previous made payments as a loss) but without a repossession on my record. (Trying to remain loyal as this is my 2nd vehicle with them) this was to no avail. I also tried to discuss taking the van back and just keeping the payments they received from me and I would take it as a loss but wanted to not have a repossession (I have more than shown over the years that I have never missed a payment and was a valuable customer. I am stuck paying for a van I can’t safely drive, even within town. Like most people one needs a reliable vehicle! I Would never go there again.

I was forced during this time to get a second vehicle to be able to transport my family around.

( if you are looking for a car and a place that prides itself on really helping you if you get a vehicle that does not work. They do take poor credit. Fort Dodge car credit has been the best to us.

I am sad to say I will no longer ever go back to Car hop. They lost a customer that has been loyal to them. I have been paying $440 a month for a van you can’t even drive, imagine what I would now be willing to pay for a working vehicle! Below are the lights that all pop up when it dies while driving. You have to let it set for 5-6 hours before it will start again) when it starts again there are no lights on at all. I’m very upset about this. (There wasn’t any lights on when I purchased it) ( also having to get a 2 vehicle isn’t ideal as its another car payment)

We had recently got a car there and was introduced to Noah at first. Such a personable and nice guy. Very informative and engaging. Made our first experience there very comfortable.

We then worked with Alex who was our sales person. They were AMAZING! Very polite, easy to talk to and very informative as well. They also made the entire process very smooth and easy! They were able to help us get our beautiful Red ‘07 Buick Rainier which WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE and who, I might add, we call Crimson, LOL.

But all that to say, we would HIGHLY recommend coming here if you’re looking for a car. They work well with any type of credit and work with you on finding a car fit for your budget or what you can afford. They make you feel like they want to work with you to get you driving off the lot that day. Such a great staff and they offer such awesome customer service.

Thank you Alex and Noah for making our first experience there a great one. 🙂

Car I bought worked great for the first five minutes after I drove it off the lot, then it started to fall apart, the gas gauge went out, the fuel pump broke, and many other problems, none of which were covered by the extremely terrible warranty they offered knowing I deliver food for a living. Not to mention I fell into hardship and the car completely died due to the extreme weather, and got behind on my payment, this is the only time I have asked for extra time on the payment in 6 months, and the financing lady said, I need at least $35 by 4:30 pm or your vehicle will be repossessed, which ticks me off, I literally told her that I have no money for the next two weeks and she just ignored that and demanded a full payment, the customer service sucks and half the staff should probably be sent for a competency check, as they don’t seem to care if you have a setback in life, and would prefer you starve yourself then not get their money for two weeks. Would rather zero stars if I could, but that’s not an option, never buying another vehicle from these scumbags, because the car I had before buying from them was slightly better, than the one I got from them

Noah and Austin helped me. I just did an application online. They reached out to me. I drove down the very next day, my car had a missing exhaust system and coolant leak. They got me into a reliable vehicle with 0 dollars down trade in. I left the same day with a Chevy HHR that runs smooth and a smile. My payments are low too. If you need wheels fast go here.

Cheap cars. That cost way too much. Too many miles on them all. Honestly just seems like a scam. Can’t say for sure. But when they let you test drive 3 cars that are all 10x worse than the one you brought in as a trade. Something is fishy. Headlight wires completely disconnected so I can’t fix them. Extremely dirty on the inside. Clanks and makes a lot of noise when hitting any small bump. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to here under any circumstances.

  1. Had an amazing experience purchasing a car from them! Big thank you to Jeff Adams for getting me a great car that fit my budget, and got me in and out the door with keys in hand in less than a few hours. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a reliable used vehicle with an awesome warranty!

  2. I can’t say enough about how helpful these folks were. They worked with my not so great credit situation and got me into a really nice vehicle for a great price. They really mad me feel like they had my best interests at heart. My salesman, James, was kind and helpful every step of the way. I was in and out with a new vehicle in just a couple of hours. I couldn’t recommend them more!

  3. Absolutely junk vehicles, they don’t fix it and just keep taking money. Said they fixed a van but it had to be jumped in their lot after they said they fixed it? what a joke.

Update:SURPRISE IT DIDNT EVEN MAKE OT OUT OF THEIR LOT. ARE YOU KIDDING ??

  4. I have no complaints whatsoever. The staff was very helpful from beginning to end. I wasn’t expecting to leave the lot with a car today but I did and I don’t regret it. From the price and service I recommend this location.

  5. Can’t say enough good things about this place and program! Knowledgeable staff who wants to say YES to your situation! You get wholesale cost on labor and parts for anything not listed on top of the best service contract 4 yr 48,000 mile $50 deductible with no cost oil changes! ? Good selection and they report to all major credit bureaus as well!
