We went here on Monday night for a birthday celebration. It was a large group of is and they wait staff did a great job of accommodating us. The food was great and so was the drinks. I personal think the salmon with the mango topping was better than the pecan crusted. It could also be that I’m not really a nut fun either. The skillet was very good the shrimp, fish, and scallops were cooked just right. The sushi was nice and the dip was a great starter.By Shameka Parker (10 months ago)Quirky atmosphere with great food and excellent service. The interior looks like a literal mid-century fish market or possibly an older cruise ship. Not my aesthetic but it was a great site to marvel and definitely a conversation starter.
My husband and I took my mom here for her birthday and she enjoyed it. There was no wait as we went on my mom’s actual birthday which was a Monday evening. We went a few weeks ago so unfortunately I cannot remember our service name but she is a twin (My mom is one too so that’s how I remember). She was able to accurately describe the menu and gave honest recommendations which helped us to choose more easily.
The chocolate slice of “birthday” cake they gave my mom was rich and delicious. It was not complimentary so that was a very small disappointment. The small chocolate plate that said happy birthday was free of charge.
There were QR codes at the table to pay for the meal. We had issues with ours because apparently they updated their table count but forgot to update the QR code. Our server took care of our ticket the traditional way and apologized for inconvenience.
By Simply Nisey YT (a month ago)The drinks were delightful, but the food was amazing! Perfectly seasoned, tender flaky fish, excellent presentation, sublime sauce, delightfully flavorful garnishes. They offer a gluten free menu!!!
Nice ambience. We went for a work dinner and we were able to hold conversations easily.
Wonderful and attentive service as well!By Cat Huss (3 months ago)We visited as part of a birthday celebration and booked the table in advance. They offer valet service and we just waited a few mins to have the car taken as there were many people leaving. The good was excellent and we both had Salmon. The waiter was very pleasant in manner but not fully knowledgeable of all aspects of the food on the menu. I did have to return my plate due to a spice in the sweet potato that I had asked about but was told it was not in the sweet potato and in fact it was. However the vegetables were excellent so it more than compensated and I was offered another starch. We also had to ask for bread as it was not clear whether this came with the food. I received a complimentary strawberry shortcake dessert which was delicious as this was given to patrons celebrating a birthday. The tables were nicely spaced out and the ambience was also good. It’s more upscale- casual dining and you do have cloth napkins. We did not have any alcoholic beverages so I cannot comment there. There have a good selection of food items and there is a nice selection of fresh caught seafood and the lobsters can be seen moving around in the tank. I would definitely eat here again. Price is moderately high but worth the expense. I also had the crab bisque as a starter and that was to die for with real bits of crab in each spoonful and a good helping! Valet cost was only $3 plus any to you would like to give.By Wendy Jones (a year ago)Honestly wanted to dislike this place more than I did. Reading between the lines, felt like a tourist trap past its prime.Although it definitely had feel of chain type venue going through motions with cheaply laminated menus, I enjoyed my time here.
Some highlights:
– Fresh fish
– Engaging environment
– Meaty and chunky clam chowder
– Attentive bartenderDon’t feel there was necessary any value for my dollar. But won’t give it a full-on veto next time.

Nice, fancy, and pleasant experience for a big night out with friends, a date, or an intimate night with your loved ones. Service is great and food is fun, but, the menu is all marketing. I found a fair handful of mistakes and many of the dishes are just not as much as they seem to be – it sounds incredible on the menu, and with a big price, it’s gotta be good. But honestly, much of it is pretty simple – done well, although not truly impressive. Still, my expectations for “fancy” might just be too high; still had an incredible and delicious meal, and the service we got was wonderful. The servers were attentive and friendly, helpful and informative. The design and environment of the restaurant was attractive and very comfortable. I’d go back if I wasn’t paying and the goal was not a super high end, best of the best dining. Overall, pleasant experience.By Chris Williams (10 months ago)I was in Atlanta GA for a basketball tournament. We decided to out alone and enjoy a seafood dinner. I had to share how great the food was and the waiter explanation of the dishes made us to have a whole new experience. My husband had the Grouper Fish with lobster tail cook to perfection. I had the crab cakes. The portions are big and honestly two people can eat from one dish. We also paid for a basket of bread that came out warm with butter. The mac and cheese was great and went well with our dishes. We also had wine to go with our dinner. It was a great experience and we were lucky to get into this restaurant.By Maribel Sosa-Thomas (6 months ago)The food was AMAZING!!! We ordered the calamari, shrimp scampi pasta, & the crab cakes and it was absolutely delicious. However, our servers was the BEST part of the experience. Tee and Victor were amazing. They were personable, friendly, and had great customer service. Thank you Tee and Victor for making our date night wonderful! I highly recommend! 🫶🏽By Anastasia Lagmay (4 months ago)Ray’s in the city was an absolute great choice for my birthday dinner. I was greeted with so much love and laughter by the staff. Our server Mario was fantastic. He has a sexy voice or at least spoke in his sexy voice while recommending and sharing the details of the menu. He is as so friendly, so glad he was the one who served us. The manager was everything, so nice and friendly and so personable. There aren’t enough words to talk about this great experience. So grateful for my friends for bringing me here for my birthday! I will definitely recommend this upscale restaurant to everyone. The food was delicious and the ambiance amazing.By Kimberly Darshel (KDGINSPIRES) (2 weeks ago)Made a reservation & was seated immediately once we arrived. Waiter was very nice & attentive. Ordered the Tomahawk Steak (definitely big enough for 2) w mashed potatoes, lobster mac, & a side of sautéed onions & mushrooms. The steak was cooked & seasoned perfectly! The lobster mac we personally didn’t enjoy because it lacked flavor. The side of onions & mushrooms for the steak was good. Sides are a shareable size. Drinks were good. We even received a complementary dessert for it being an anniversary dinner.By Samone C (a year ago)

I had been waiting to eat at this establishment for months…
Service was outstanding!! Our server was extremely knowledgeable, patient, courteous and amicable. Couldn’t ask for a better person. Unfortunately, two of the meals were topped with way too much salt. Once you removed the top layer of salty “goodness” the main courses were tolerable. Thankfully appetizers, sides and deserts were good. I’m not letting this one experience ruin it for me so I’ll be back in the future.
Appetizers are shareable. If you’re wanting to sit in the dining section make reservations a few days in advance especially for Fri & Sat nights. Oyster bar area is open at 3pm while dining section starts seating at 5pm. Upper scale casual atmosphere. They are able to accommodate large or small parties.
By Ashley Malone (7 months ago)First of all the service was exceptional. The server was very caring and made my overall experience wonderful. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant where it was in a good balance of formal and casual. However, food was a bit of disappointment, as I visited with high expectation. They were good but not amazing. Ingredients were very fresh but sauces/seasonings were overpowering the ingredients. This place is known for oysters and it is unfortunate I can’t eat oysters. It might have been better if I visited with someone who can taste them for me.
I would still visit this place again to try other dish, if I’m in this area.By Jungeun Choi (9 months ago)The Optimist is a great restaurant hands down. The seafood is phenomenal and the prime rib steak I had melted in your mouth. Brittany, our server was spectacular. She knew the menu inside and out and made perfect recommendations when asked. You won’t go wrong eating here.By Scott Smith (3 months ago)My honey and I visited here. The simplicity of the restaurant was intriguing and I loved the tempo and flow of the staff. Upon seating we were greeted and we ordered food and drinks. We had several employees attending to our every need. Everyone worked collectively. The food was awesome. The only thing I would change is adding more to the menu. Very few choices on the menu for food. It seemed to be more wine selections than food on the menu. Variety will definitely bring me back again and again. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I will definitely tell others about this place and will definitely be back❤️By Nicey Beavers (4 months ago)I had a lovely time tonight at the Optimist!
I sat at the bar to have a quiet night alone and it was such a treat.Walter was my bartender and did an excellent job making a stellar martini and providing attentive service.
I had 6 oysters to start and then he recommended the scallops for my entree.
You HAVE to try the scallops – they were phenomenal. I had the broccolini on the side since the scallops were a small serving size – but I promise even though there are only a few in the order they are so decadent & delicious that it’s the perfect size. I asked Walter for a wine pairing and he suggested the Riesling which was wonderful.I love coming here and will be back again soon!

While the service was great and very friendly, the food is just average and bland.
The mussels were in a yummy buttery sauce but I prefer everything else we ordered to be more flavorful and seasoned. The lobster roll, while being priced very fair, was what you’d except for the price and nothing special.
We also got a seafood boil, again, wasn’t seasoned like you’d expect a boil to be.
If you want to go to a restaurant that is geared to cater a large group with different taste levels, this would be a good place.
Nice atmosphere on the rooftop, and solid margs. But overall I’d dine somewhere else next time I want this type of food.By Maggie Fike (4 months ago)Love to come here and sit on the patio on the second floor. Great food, good serves and drinks are always on point. I usually come for or leave with a bowl of the lobster bisque…it so good!!! Had the stuffed grouper and dozen oysters. My friend had the lobster roll salad and crablegs. Always a good chill time.By Goldie (9 months ago)We decided to keep the party going by stopping into the Steamhouse Lounge and we got off to a rocky start. We decided to sit on the upper patio and seat ourselves. Unfortunately the only table available was pretty dirty but I’ve served before and I know what it’s like to be jam packed, often times it takes a little while to clear if you don’t have a busier.
So I had to clean my own table and grab my own cutlery and menu etc.
But once the waiter got around to me he was super attentive, the drinks and the tequila were strong and the lobster bisque had decently sized chunks of lobster.
I’d definitely give this place another try!
By Adam Soto (8 months ago)Love the outdoor seating area and good friendly staff.
Raw oysters 🦪 fresh and good size, although not the most flavorful but usually the smaller the size the bolder flavor. I especially love 💕 the Lobster Bisque, lots of lobster 🦞 meats, creamy and not overpowering with the seafood taste. Mussels is mussels as long as it’s fresh and not fishy bc for me is the sauce, the garlic 🧄 bread that went with it is to die for. We asked for more garlic bread to dip the remaining sauce, yeah is good! Fried Buffalo Shrimp ehhh just don’t order it, why is it so salty?! And the batter just not good.By T C (7 months ago)We are ALWAYS pleased when visiting! The food has been consistent for many years! The lobster bisque is a MUST and the oysters are delicious! We tried the blackened scallops this time and are planning to go back for more soon!By Andrea Phillips (6 months ago)

Thank you for reading! We hope this list helps you find the best oyster restaurants in Atlanta GA. If you have any additional information, please leave a comment below!
Absolutely enjoyed Six Feet Under. To start, we shared the calamari, fried oysters, quesadillas, conch fritters, and oyster Rockefeller. We also ordered a fried platter (with oysters, shrimp, cod, hushpuppies, and chips.), spicy buffalo chicken sandwich, onion rings, and collard greens. Of course, I had to get drinks as well. We split a pitcher of the “Killer” House margarita, a glass of chardonnay, and a peach margarita. Everything was absolutely delicious and our server was extremely attentive. I truly enjoy visiting new spots but I absolutely can’t wait to go back.
Amazing atmosphere! Super fun pub across from the cemetery which gives it that creepy cool vibe. Food is excellent. The blackened catfish is superb. I have ordered blackened catfish from a multitude of restaurants and always ask for tartar sauce as a dip, but this catfish was so well flavored that it was perfect as ordered. The fried Okra is exceptional. Great flavor and wonderfully battered. There is a full bar but the ATL old fashioned is a perfect addition to any meal. I also had the cemetery sour which was delicious. Several desserts to choose from. The bread pudding is not too sweet and not as soggy as most puddings are, it’s a must try.
Six feet under is located directly across from the Atlanta public cemetery, so that’s where the name comes from. The atmosphere was really good, except they had their air conditioner brake. The waitress was amazing and did an excellent job. The food was really good and had a lot of clever names. Based on other reviews, I was aware of the tipping situation, where if your entire party spends $100 then the tip is automatically added. So be careful when you go there, but it is clearly indicated on the menu what this policy is. The place is meant more for adults, but they do allow children. The atmosphere is full of beer, partially naked women, and even Johnny Cash flipping you off in a picture on the ceiling.
First time visiting this establishment and it definitely won’t be my last! I arrived with an empty stomach and left with a full stomach! Everything was fresh and tasty at the same time. The atmosphere was very chill and laid back. If you ever get a chance to visit, sit outside where you can eat good food and enjoy the view! I highly recommend!
The Crab Cake Sliders 🦀 and Combo Basket was everything our server Alex, said they’d be! The restaurant’s ambiance caters to your socializing and entertainment must-haves! The seafood is just as fresh as it is delicious. Our server Alex offered an amazing vibe and outstanding suggestions; she was most certainly delightful!!! Six Feet Under will become a regular and I can’t wait to experience its nightlife!
